Our passionate as an Eco Resort
As an Eco Resort in Indonesia, we are passionate about the environment, minimizing our impact and developing a sustainable future. We are forever striving to attain new levels in these areas around the resort, and with our diving practices and the briefs, we give to our visiting divers and guests. Well, we can take that further by offering our exciting experience and training in a number of new Ecological Diver Specialties.
The New Specialties that have been released are:
- Marine Ecology
- Shark Ecology
- Sea Turtle Ecology
- Fish Identification
- and Coral Identification
We are very excited to offer you these new specialties with our Instructors Mike and Mem our resident Marine Biologist.
Each of these programs offers a wealth of knowledge about different aspects of the marine world, each one has been developed to develop diverse awareness of the marine environment and how they have interacted.
We love all the new programs but one of the most exciting to teach is the Marine Ecology Program, this course is available online, it explores the complex and multi-layered web of life that is found in the ocean’s various ecosystems. Students will study how organisms interact with each other and their environment, how energy flows through communities and the links between different ocean ecosystems. Most importantly it teaches how you play a role in the ocean’s ever-changing ecology and how conservation is the future for our oceans. Best of all its just for fun or anyone can join.
The other specialties take you through theory and in water practice training, for Fish and Coral You will learn how to identify fish based on physical appearance and behavior, you will learn the unique reproductive cycle of corals and how to identify the main family groups.
The Sea Turtle Ecology looks at the life-cycle of sea turtles, challenges that they face, and how they are threatened by both natural and anthropogenic factors. We are very lucky that Mem is a turtle specialist and will provide you with much more information on their behavior, biology and introduce you to the new monitoring program we are developing and testing for the Raja Ampat region.
The Shark Ecology explores the fascinating history of one of the ocean’s oldest living predators. You’ll learn more about how sharks earned an unjust reputation as mindless man-eaters, their roles as keystone species in reef ecosystems, and why they deserve our protection. One of the best bits with the shark Ecology Program for each student registration and certification SSI will donate 10% of their earnings to shark preservation.
We hope you enjoyed our article and that we will see you soon at our Eco Resort in Raja Ampat for a shared diving experience. If you have further questions pleas contact us.
