Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Indeed a cause woth supporting, but what are they all about?

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization, a real cause worth supporting. Established in 1977 and founded by Captain Paul Watson, their mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans. This way they  contribute to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. They use innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas.

By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Sepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations. Today the movement has independent entities in over 20 countries working together on direct-action campaigns around the world.

Current Campaigns

At the moment they have 10 campaigns they are running:

  1. Operation Milagro, for the Vaquita Porpoise
  2. For Anti-poaching and Research
  3. An operation for the Wild Salmon
  4. Another one for the Sea Turtles
  5. For ending IUU fishing

  7. For Ocean clean up
  8. One for Beaked Whale research

Why does Biodiversity Nature Resort supports them?

Our goal, as divers and great nature lovers, is to create a resort with responsible tourism. We make use of natural resources with the greatest possible respect, to preserve this spectacular nature. We are committed to protecting our environment, because we understand the importance of each unique creature on this planet.

Coral reefs are the ecosystems with the greatest biodiversity. Being in the Raja Ampat we are in the Epicenter of the famous Coral Triangle, which represents the largest biodiversity in coral reefs on the planet. This underwater network of history and life is not only at immediate risk of threats from all parts of the world. As it is common in several endangered species in the world, the entire planet is at risk these days by a number of pollutants!

It is difficult and sad to imagine these completely eradicated marine ecosystems. Unfortunately, it is very easy to look the other way, while this virgin nature disappears. However, it is our responsibility to keep it in the best possible state. Only having an active attitude is achieved, and that is what we try in Biodiversity, with our small contributions to minimize our negative impact on the planet.

Why should you support Sea Shepherd?

In Biodiversity we are concerned that our clients take on today’s reality, as a reference point for extreme biodiversity and beauty. We cannot imagine the richness of these corals in the past, or what they will become in the future! What we now consider as good, in a decade it will seem very poor. You have probably thought about this in your home country several times. With this in mind, let’s hope you take some steps to limit the impact of our activities wherever you live.

Once you click on their website, you will definitely know that Sea Shepherd is indeed a cause worth supporting. Donating or cooperating with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is one way to contribute to a movement that has the same goal. We encourage you to help the environment recover. Nature somehow finds a way to follow its natural course, but for this it needs our help.

We leave you with a saying from Paul Watson: “Life began in the ocean. We must Defend, Conserve and Protect it. Now and always.
