DIVE SAFETY
Raja Ampat is a very remote destination. We take your dive safety very seriously, please read our safety requirements below.
Dive Safety Tips & Rules:
- Please look after your own safety
- Ask yourself if you are fit to dive: if you have not been diving for a long time (more than two years), you will be required to do a REFRESHER course.
- Special Requirements if you do little physical activity, you are overweight or a smoker. Then we need a medical certificate from a doctor stating that you are “fit to dive.”
- We do long dives, lasting a maximum of 75 minutes. We only ask you come back with 40 bars; If you fail to do so, we will remind you and, if this happens to a second time, we will refuse to take you diving again.
- We do NO-DECO (decompression) dives.
Please dive responsibly and avoiding any negative impact on the reefs.
All divers require a valid active dive insurance.
Dive Insurance
Due to our remote location, Dive Insurance is mandatory to dive with us. If you do not have coverage, you can easily buy DAN Short Term insurance for this purpose at our Biodiversity Resort.
When you do not have insurance, do not worry, you can purchase insurance here upon arrival. In our experience, DAN offers a very good service and coverage and is very well priced. We have partnered with DAN Asia Pacific and the short insurance we offer is provided by DAN Asia Pacific. This insurance is activated immediately. Please remember that we are in a very remote location, so for your own dive safety, you are required to have active dive insurance.
DAN shorterm insurance; 1 day 10 EUR, 3-5 day 27 EUR, 6-10 days 37 EUR or 11-30 days 45 EUR, which will cover you to dive with us during your stay, and to dive with any other registered operator in Indonesia.

Medical facilities and more information
There is a new hyperbaric chamber in Waisai, located at the Rumah Sakit Umun. Please bear in mind that hyperbaric chamber treatment is very expensive and operation times are limited.
Our dive guides will guide the dive very conservatively and to a maximum depth of 25m. The best marine life is in shallower water, it is not necessary to spend too long in deep waters. We do not do deco (decompression) dives. It is imperative to dive conservatively. Become acquainted with your dive computer. If you have not dived recently, please let us know, so we can do a refresher course. Additionally, we do check dives, which means that we will start with an easy dive site. We want to check your level and make sure that you have an enjoyable and safe dive experience with us. After that, we will choose the dive sites according to your level, and increase the difficulty little by little.
There are no nearby DAN approved decompression chamber facilities in Papua. The closest chamber is in Manado and evacuation is extremely expensive and difficult to arrange. We provide Oxygen for dive emergencies, but Oxygen is insufficient treatment for DCS.
